Project Overview

This marketing won’t manufacture itself. At least, that is what indie developer Space Kraken Studios thought ahead of their first Steam launch. With their first title, Military Incremental Complex, nearly complete but lacking a marketing strategy, Space Kraken engaged Starfall PR for key marketing activities to prepare for the game’s November 2025 launch. Over the course of 5 months, Starfall PR set up shop to deliver some major results. The game launched with over 30,000 wishlists, sold an equal number of copies in the first week, and gained visibility from some of the largest incremental creators on YouTube. No idle hands here!

The Task

Space Kraken began collaboration with Starfall PR in April 2025 for Military Incremental Complex. From SNF to game release, Starfall PR was responsible for managing a thorough campaign that included media and creator relations, digital marketing, community management, and self-publishing support.

The Results

Our Military Incremental Complex campaign ran like a well-oiled machine to deliver some strong results. 

  • Secured over 140 pieces of coverage across the campaign, including placements with T1 media outlets like IGN and Rock Paper Shotgun, and major content creators like Real Civil Engineer, Blitz, and Dangerously Funny.
  • 30,000+ wishlists at launch, with 30k+ copies sold and a wishlist count of over 43,000 in the first week.
  • Curated branded creator kits for key targets, including a custom sticker sheet, a custom postcard with a handwritten message from the developers, custom fake money, and relevantly themed gifts like a pen made out of a bullet casing and a wooden toy gun puzzle.
  • Ideated and pitched in-game achievements and easter eggs attributed to creators to promote coverage by those same creators.
